How to make these cute Halloween Cookies with Sprinkles
Ingredients:
- 3 cups flour
- ¼ teaspoon baking soda
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, room temperature
- 2 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 ¼ cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg
- Halloween sprinkles
- Candy eyes
- Purple gel food coloring
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- In a large bowl, mix all the dry ingredients together (flour, baking soda, salt, and baking powder). Set aside.
- In a separate bowl, beat together the butter, cream cheese, and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the vanilla, egg, and two to three drops of purple gel food coloring to the butter cream cheese mixture. Beat until well combined.
- Slowly add the dry ingredients and mix until well combined. You may need to use a spoon to mix in the last of the flour because the dough will be thick.
- Pour some Halloween sprinkles into a bowl.
- Scoop heaping tablespoons of dough from the bowl and roll into a ball.
- Dip the cookie dough balls into the Halloween sprinkles, but try not to put sprinkles on the bottom side.
- Place each rolled and sprinkled cookie on the prepared baking sheet. Then press on the tops lightly with the bottom of a cup to flatten them out just a bit.
- Press candy eyes into the tops of the cookies.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, until the bottom of the cookies are beginning to brown.
- Remove from oven and allow to cool on the baking sheet for five minutes, then transfer to a wire cooling rack to cool completely before serving.
