This donut hole Christmas tree is the perfect centerpiece for your holiday dessert table! And since it’s made with a styrofoam cone and store-bought donut holes, this Christmas tree dessert is super easy to make!
If you know me, then you know that I’m the queen of no-bake desserts – especially during the Christmas season! Between shopping for Christmas presents, wrapping gifts, and attending 42 different Christmas school programs, who really has time to bake extravagant sweets from scratch, right?!
So when I saw this donut hole Christmas tree idea floating around the internet, I knew that I had to give it a try. And the result can only be described as “show-stopping”. In fact, when my youngest walked in the door from school, her first reaction was a literal “oooh” and “aaah”.
But the best thing about this towering Christmas tree dessert is how easy it is to make! Just wrap a styrofoam cone with plastic wrap, use toothpicks to skewer on premade donut holes, and decorate with powdered sugar and fresh raspberries. It really doesn’t get any easier than that!

What You Need for a Donut Hole Christmas Tree
- styrofoam cone – We used a 12″ styrofoam cone, but you can use a larger cone for a larger Christmas tree dessert.
- plastic wrap
- toothpicks – You will need about 70-80 toothpicks and donut holes for a 12″ cone.
- donut holes – I chose to use the glazed donut holes, but powdered would look great also.
- powdered sugar and sifter – To look like “snow” on the tree.
- fresh raspberries and rosemary sprigs
How to Make a Christmas Tree with Donut Holes
This beautiful holiday dessert is simple to make with just a little bit of prep work. Just follow these steps:
- Wrap the styrofoam cone in plastic wrap. Insert one toothpick about halfway into the bottom of the cone, about 3/4 – 1″ up from the base.
- Carefully press a donut hole into the toothpick. Then insert another toothpick next to the first donut hole, and push in another donut.
- Continue working around the cone, from the bottom up, until the whole cone is covered in donut holes. *Don’t worry if there are small gaps here and there – those can be covered with raspberries and rosemary.
- Push sprigs of fresh rosemary in between some of the donut holes for garnish. Insert raspberries into larger bare spots so that the cone is not visible. Then, use a sifter to dust the top of the tree with powdered sugar, resembling snow.

Donut Hole Christmas Tree
Equipment
- 12" styrofoam cone
- plastic wrap
- 70-80 toothpicks
Ingredients
- 70-80 donut holes
- ¼ cup confectioner's sugar
- 6 oz fresh raspberries
- 4-5 sprigs fresh rosemary cut into 1-2" pieces
Instructions
- Wrap the styrofoam cone in plastic wrap, ensuring that the entire cone is covered.
- Insert one toothpick into the bottom of the cone, about ¾″ up from the base. Leave about half of the toothpick sticking out. Carefully push a donut hole onto the toothpick.
- Insert another toothpick into the cone about ½" from the first donut hole, and push in another donut. Continue working around the cone, from the bottom up, until the whole cone is covered in donut holes.
- Gently wedge raspberries into larger gaps so that the cone is not visible. Push sprigs of fresh rosemary in between some of the donut holes for garnish as needed.
- Sift confectioner's sugar over top of the entire tree so that it falls straight down to look like snow.
