Use this free template and a dusting of flour to make your own Easter bunny footprints! Grab the free printable paw prints template and leave some “evidence” that the Easter Bunny stopped by your house!

Nothing excites a kid like waking up on Easter morning to find colorful plastic eggs hidden all over the house and a giant Easter basket filled to the brim with toys and other goodies! But what if you could take that excitement and dial it up a few notches?!
Imagine your kids’ surprise when they see actual evidence that Mr. Bunny had “hopped” by… that’s where these fun Easter Bunny footprints come into play!
I’ve done Santa’s snowy footprints in the past for my kids to discover on Christmas morning, so I thought this would be the perfect way to prove to them that the fluffy magical bunny had stopped at our house!
And when you combine these flour bunny paw prints with this Easter Bunny letter template or this bunny bait to sprinkle on your lawn, I’d say your kids won’t need anymore convincing… and they’ll probably be so excited that you’d swear they had already snuck a basket-full of jelly beans!
SUPPLY LIST:
- Free Printable Easter Bunny Footprints Template – You can grab mine down below!
- Scissors
- Card stock – You could probably use printer paper also, but with card stock you can use the stencil year after year. Also, I recommend the card stock because it’s sturdier, which is helpful when you’re lifting the template off the floor with the weight of the flour.
- Flour – Any type of white flour will work, so just grab a bag of the cheapest variety or use what you already have in the pantry.
- Mesh strainer – I used this as a sort of flour sifter. It helps to evenly distribute the flour so that it doesn’t clump up in the stencil.
How to Make Easter Bunny Footprints with Flour
These flour bunny paw prints couldn’t be easier to make! Just follow these steps to create a little extra magic on Easter morning:
Step 1: Cut out the paw prints. Cut out the pink colored oval pieces to make your bunny footprint stencil. A good sharp pair of scissors makes this easy, because you will need to poke a hole in the card stock to begin cutting.
Step 2: Sprinkle flour over the stencil. Lay the stencil on the floor where you want it to go, and then sift some flour over top, covering the cut out areas completely. Carefully add just a small bit (probably a few tablespoons) of flour to the mesh strainer. Then gently tap it against your hand. A very thin coating of flour is best.
Step 3: Lift the stencil off the floor. Carefully lift the stencil off the floor, trying not to disturb the flour left behind. Be sure that you don’t let the paper collapse from the weight of the flour. Then move on to the next bunny paw.
Step 4: Continue adding your Bunny footprints. Repeat the steps, sprinkling the flour over the stencil and then lifting it off, until you have a nice line of bunny prints.
Tips for Success
- Sweep up any mistakes – It may take you a few test prints to get it just right. But no worries – just sweep up any loose flour into a dust pan and start again!
- Put your paw prints in the right position – Think about how a bunny hops… and lay your footprints down in that pattern.
- A light sprinkling of flour is best – I got the best results with a light dusting of flour. At first I had a thick coating of flour over the stencil, and my bunny paw prints didn’t look near as good.
- Add jelly bean “poop” – If you don’t mind a bit of potty humor, then add a cluster of chocolate or licorice flavored jelly beans near the paw prints to look like bunny poop! If you’ve ever owned a pet rabbit, you know what I’m talking about!
- Show where the Easter Bunny went – You can add a track of footprints from your front door to your kids’ Easter baskets so that your little ones can see what path the Easter Bunny took inside your home!
