Supplies Needed
- free printable Father’s Day trophy template – Available at the end of this post!
- crayons, markers, or colored pencils – Or use a combination of your favorite coloring tools.
- white card stock – I recommend printing the template on card stock because the craft pieces will be less likely to tear or wrinkle.
- scissors – For younger kids, like toddler or preschool age, you may need to help with cutting out the smaller, more detailed pieces.
- glue or glue stick – I personally prefer using an Elmer’s glue stick for this project.
- solid color card stock or construction paper – Optional, to use as a backing sheet if you want to make the craft sturdier.
How to Make a Father’s Day Trophy with the Free Template
This adorable preschool Father’s Day craft is very easy to make, especially if your little ones love to color! Not to mention, it’s great for scissors practice and fine motor skills.
Step 1: Print and color the trophy template. I recommend printing the craft template on white card stock so that it is sturdier and the smaller pieces are less likely to get torn. Then have your kids color the trophy and the tool pieces that they want to use for their Father’s Day craft.
Step 2: Cut out the trophy pieces. Use scissors to cut out the main base trophy, the tools, and the name plate piece. You can also choose which piece to put in the middle of your trophy – options include things like “Awesome Dad” or “I Love You Dad”.
Step 3: Glue the Father’s Day trophy pieces together. I prefer to use an Elmer’s school glue stick for this because it’s less messy for the smaller pieces. Just glue the name plate with the written message to the bottom of the trophy template, and attach the other tool pieces. Allow the craft to dry before moving it.
Step 4 (Optional): Glue the trophy craft to a piece of backer card stock. To make your final craft sturdier, you can glue the trophy to a colored card stock base. This allows your kids to glue more of the tool pieces around the outside, or you can use the blank space to write a Father’s Day message to Dad.
