Use these free printable storage basket labels to organize every bin, basket, and tote in your house! Customize the free label template, print, and attach to your baskets for a clean and polished look.
I’ve made DIY basket labels in the past using chalkboard-style clothespin signs and scrapbook letter stickers, but I LOVE these new printable basket labels so much that I immediately had to sit down and write up a post about how to make them… not kidding, I just attached these storage bin labels to the organizers in my linen closet five minutes ago!
Not only are they easy to make, but you can customize the template with your own wording to label every basket in your house! And when you attach them with small gold fastener brads, they look high-end and professional.
I could go on and on about how good these new basket labels look in person, but let’s just jump into how to make them yourself:
Supplies Needed
You only need a few basic supplies to make these storage labels, most of which you can find at a craft store. Here’s a look at the items that I used and some notes:

- free printable storage basket label template – Available at the end of this post! I’ll show you how to customize them down below – great if your handwriting stinks!
- white paper – I used a 24 lb printer paper, because I find that the thicker weight looks nicer for home DIY printables. However, you can make these labels with regular 20 lb copy paper also.
- laminator and laminating pouches – This is the laminator that I have and love, and these are the laminating pouches that I used. I recommend a 5 mil pouch for this project because it is a bit thicker and your labels will hold up better. *If you don’t have a laminator, then you can get the labels laminated at most office supply stores.
- scissors – I actually tried cutting the labels out with a paper trimmer, but I found that it was easier to use a pair of scissors for this project. With the paper trimmer, I kept accidentally cutting off the black line border of the labels.
- velcro stickers, fastener brads, decorative clips, or ribbon – To attach the labels to your storage bins.

- The label template will open in Canva. To edit the wording on the labels, just click on the text that you want to change and type in your own.
- Once you have all of the labels customized how you want them, click “Share” and then “Download”. Change the file type to PDF Standard. Then click “Download”, and the file will download to your computer or device.
- Find where the labels PDF downloaded on your device, open it up, and select print.
Then you can follow the instructions below to actually assemble the labels for organizing baskets and bins. *Be sure to check out the video above for detailed step-by-step instructions, including how to personalize the labels in Canva.
The great thing about the free Canva template is that you can use it over and over again! You can even change the size of the labels or the font to fit your needs.
How to Make Your Own Storage Basket Labels
These organization labels are easy to make, because I did all of the hard work for you! Just follow these steps to print, cut, and laminate the tags. Then attach them to your bins or baskets!
Step 1: Print and cut the labels. Print the PDF of the labels on white paper. I used a 24 lb printer paper, which is slightly thicker than the standard 20 lb. copy paper. This gives a bit of a nicer finish, but it’s not necessary. *TIP – If you’re not going to be laminating the labels, then I suggest printing on a heavier weight card stock (about 80-110 lbs).
Step 2: Laminate the storage basket labels. To laminate, place the individual storage labels in a laminator pouch with space in between each card. Be sure to leave about 1/4″ to 1/2″ of space around each label so that the laminator can create a good seal. Also, do your best to line up the labels in straight lines to make them easier to cut out later.
Step 3: Cut out the laminated storage labels. Next, cut out each individual organizing label. I found it easiest to use my paper trimmer for this, but you can also cut out the cards with some sharp scissors. Just be sure to leave a very small (less than 1/4″) border of clear lamination around each card so that you don’t cut into the lamination seal.
Step 4: Attach the DIY labels to your storage baskets. Use brads, decorative clips, or twine to attach the labels.
Attaching the Free Printable Labels to Your Storage Baskets
Because the design of these labels is very simple, you have a variety of options for attaching them to your bins and baskets to get organized. Here’s a look at some suggestions:
Velcro Stickers –
Simply place one side of the Velcro sticker on the basket and the opposite side of the Velcro in the center of the storage label. This Velcro method works best for plastic or hard surface bins.
Decorative Clips –
Just clip the label to the handle or side of your storage baskets. This works best if your bin has a cutout for the clip to go in. Find these clips at most of your craft stores in the paper crafts section.
Brad Fasteners –
Use scissors to poke holes through both ends of the label. Slide a brad through, and open the backs to hold in place. This works best with baskets that have small holes in the weave, like my plastic storage bins.
You can also punch a hole through one end of the labels, and tie them on to the handles of your baskets with jute twine or ribbon. I personally chose to use the gold brad fasteners with my labels, and I absolutely ADORE how they turned out!
