When my kids were younger, they would’ve been perfectly happy running about barefoot with uncombed hair, unbrushed teeth – and unwashed everything! And I get it. When you’re little, you’re far too busy fighting space aliens, building castles, or caring for a daycare full of baby dolls to have time for little things like tooth brushing.

But, unfortunately (!), it’s our job as parents to get our kids to make the time. And that’s when the big-time nagging – ahem, I mean gentle reminding! – comes into play.

“Did you brush your teeth?”

“Did you brush your teeth?!”

“DID YOU BRUSH YOUR TEETH?!?”

From Mommy to monster in one fell swoop. It’s no fun for them. It’s no fun for us.

How this Tooth Brushing Chart Printable Has Helped Us

We know kids respond well to seeing and recording their achievements, like with visual chore charts and reward charts. And we know that having visual cues and reminders is really helpful for them when it comes to understanding structure and taking action.

So why didn’t I think to do the same for daily habits?!

When I finally created a tooth brushing chart, it genuinely changed the game for us.

We printed out the chart, laminated it, and the kids got involved in deciding where to hang it. When they could see a visual reminder clearly, every morning and night, it quickly became part of their natural daily routine, and they became less reliant on my prompts. And they felt such a sense of satisfaction when they showed me a completed chart at the end of every week. And, of course, their shiny teeth.

Because, ultimately, it’s not just about brushing teeth. We want our kids to build healthy habits and make good choices for life. And the tooth brushing chart printable is such an easy way to instill that mode of thinking at a young age.

My kids might be teenagers now, but I still think about reinstating this chart every now and then (just kidding, girls!)

Why I Love this Tooth Brushing Chart PDF

You might’ve noticed by now that I’m a fan of anything that helps make our busy lives easier. Whether it’s a chore chart for teens or a whole-family calendar, I am obsessed with charts and checklists of all kinds!

So, of course, I’m a big fan of a chart that helps kids keep on top of some of their least favorite daily habits…

Easy to use – You don’t need a fancy app, or to stand in the corner of your bathroom watching your kids, like a sinister tooth fairy, morning and night. The tooth brushing chart is super easy for kids of any age to use, and for you to keep an eye on.

Visual reminder – Kids are constantly distracted, and it can often be a case of ‘out of sight, out of mind.’ Having a simple, clear visual chart for them is a really great way of reminding them to keep up with their oral hygiene.

Reusable – I used to have charts where you rip off a sheet per week, but if you have one for rewards, one for tooth brushing, one for chores, the cost soon adds up – not to mention the waste. Laminating my free printable tooth brushing chart means you can use, wipe clean, and reuse again, week after week.

Teaches responsibility – Nagging our kids over and over again to brush their teeth isn’t just boring. It also stops them from thinking for themselves. It’s healthy for kids to understand and remember their own age-appropriate responsibilities, whether it’s hanging up their coat after school, picking up after themselves when they play, or brushing their teeth.

Builds good habits – It’s generally believed that it takes 30 days to build a habit. So, after a month of using their chart to brush their teeth morning and night, kids will have established good behavior that sticks for the long-term.

Then you just need to print and laminate. Or, insert into one of those plastic dry erase pouches if it’s easier.

And, depending on how you want to use the tooth brushing chart printable, I’ve created two different sizes to choose from.

  • US Letter size (8.5″ x 11″) – A full-sized sheet you can hang on the bathroom mirror, or on the inside of the medicine cabinet door.
  • A5 – A half-sized sheet to keep in the bathroom drawer if mirror space is limited. You can also slot these smaller-sized sheets into your kids’ planner or journal if they need an extra reminder…!

I hope this free printable chart helps to make your life easier as a busy Mom, and be sure to check out some of my other favorite charts and trackers for kids:
