Add some extra fun to story time this Halloween season with these adorable printable Halloween bookmarks! Kids of all ages will love coloring their own spooky bookmark, and it’s bound to be a hauntingly good time!
When my kids were younger, one of my favorite things about fall was getting to read all of my favorite Halloween children’s books with them.
There was just something magical about snuggling up together on a fall day with a blanket and our worn copy of It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. I would also always try to nurture a love of reading in our kids, and creating our own bookmarks was always a fun way to celebrate different holiday seasons.
If you’re looking for an eerie-sistible way to spice up story time this fall, try these free printable Halloween bookmarks! There are so many cute and creepy options to choose from, and they’re the perfect craft to pair with story time at school or home.

Supplies Needed
You probably have most of the supplies for these Halloween coloring bookmarks in your craft closet, which is my favorite kind of craft!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- White cardstock
- Printer – You can use your home printer or go to a FedEx Kinkos or local office supply store.
- Xacto knife or sharp scissors – You’ll need these to cut out the middle “U” shaped slit in the Halloween bookmark printable.
- Scissors – to cut out the entire bookmark once it’s finished
- Markers, colored pencils, or crayons – I would probably save the markers for slightly older kids. Even though you’re using card stock, a toddler with a marker can turn almost any paper into a soggy mess!
- Laminator (optional) – I am in LOVE with this home laminator! – While laminating the printable Halloween bookmarks is entirely optional, they will last longer and have less chance of tearing and bending.
- Laminator pouches (optional) – These are the ones I use
- Printable Halloween Bookmarks PDF – You can download the file using the link below!

Download the file so you’ll have it every year, or print directly from Dropbox.
2. Print the bookmarks on white card stock
Load white card stock into your printer and print the Halloween bookmarks. Don’t forget to change the color setting if you’re printing them out in color!
3. Have your child color the bookmarks BEFORE cutting them out
Now it’s time to give your kids these adorable Halloween bookmarks to color! I strongly recommend having your child color them before you cut them out.
Many younger kids get frustrated if they get outside the lines, and you can quickly swoop in and save the day by telling them that it doesn’t even matter if they do that because you’re cutting them out anyway!
It also saves your dining room table or kitchen counter from any unwanted Halloween decorations!
4. Cut out each bookmark
Once the bookmarks are finished, it’s time to cut them out! Use an X-acto knife or sharp scissors to cut out the U-shaped space in the middle so that the bookmarks will slide onto book pages.
Optional: Laminate each bookmark and cut out
If you want your printable Halloween bookmarks to last longer, you can also laminate them after cutting them out.
You can put multiple bookmarks into a laminator page as long as they aren’t touching each other. Once each page has gone through the laminator, simply cut out the middle U-shaped space again.
Hooray! Your fang-tastic Halloween bookmarks are complete! Now it’s time to find some spooky Halloween books to read for story time!
