Do you and your spouse often feel like two ships passing in the night without any real time to connect each day? These pillow talk questions for couples are a great way to create space every night for authentic conversation to bring you closer to the one you love!
Some of the best quality time that I spend with my husband is when we’re lying in bed after we’ve watched our favorite shows on Netflix and turned off the TV.
As we’re lying in the dark in silence, we start talking about something completely random, like where we want to go on vacation with the kids next summer, etc…
Maybe it’s because there are absolutely zero distractions, but some of our deepest conversations have taken place when we’re lying in bed having some good ol’ pillow talk. 🙂
There aren’t many spaces for couples to have genuine conversations anymore, even less so if kids are in the picture. That’s just the way the cookie crumbles, my friends. So, we have to take the moments where we can get them!
That’s why I’ve come up with this Pillow Talk Questions for Couples Jar you can make with just a few household items. It’s the perfect way to reconnect with your significant other after a long day, and you’ll learn more about each other in the process!
Why Pillow Talk is Vital to Your Marriage
When you hear the words “pillow talk,” you probably think of those intimate conversations you have with your spouse after sex. But did you know that you can have pillow talk without physical intimacy? It’s true!
Pillow talk for couples can happen as you’re drifting off to sleep, when you wake up in the morning, in the middle of the night, or after you’re intimate – and there are so many benefits to your marriage! Here are just a few:
Helps you feel more connected
A major benefit of pillow talk is that it helps you prioritize your relationship with your spouse and focus on becoming more connected. As you go through the pillow talk questions, your conversations actually generate oxytocin, better known as the love hormone.
Higher levels of oxytocin improve our overall sense of happiness, and results from a 2014 study showed that couples who regularly engaged in pillow talk and cuddling reported higher relationship satisfaction than those who didn’t.
Reduces distractions
Intentionally spending quality time with your spouse also eliminates distractions. After all, it’s hard to answer pillow talk questions while you’re also playing Candy Crush on your phone. In fact, my husband and I have a pretty strict No Phones in Bed rule, and we stick to it!
Now, if you have kids, you know that someone is going to tiptoe in your room wanting a last-minute glass of water, hug, bedtime story, the list goes on…but in general, setting aside a designated time for pillow talk means you get to focus on each other and put everything else aside.
Provides a safe space for thoughts and emotions
A final key benefit of pillow talk for couples is that it provides a relaxed, loving, and accepting atmosphere where you both can express yourselves without fear of being judged or laughed at for something that happened in the past. Now, if my husband dressed up as a hotdog for Halloween in college, I might give him a hard time for that, but I want to stress that it’s in a loving way!

How to Make a Pillow Talk Questions Jar
A pillow talk questions for couples jar is very similar to my date night jar, and it’s super simple to make!

Then, randomly draw a question out each night for some quality pillow talk time!
Just follow these steps to make your own questions jar:
- Step 1: Print a list of pillow talk questions – You can download the free printable list of pillow talk questions here! Or, if you like the look of your own handwriting, you can write them all down yourself on strips of paper.
- Step 2: Gather your supplies – Here are the things you will need:
- mason jar or other medium-sized jar – I used a wide-mouthed Ball mason jar and it worked out fine!
- paper trimmer – This is optional but I HIGHLY recommend a paper trimmer to more quickly cut out all of the 150 questions
- scissors – You will need regular scissors to cut out the tag to go on the jar… There are 6 different cute tag options for you to choose from!
- ribbon and hole punch – To tie the tag onto the jar.
- Step 3: Cut the pillow talk questions for couples out – This is where the paper trimmer comes in handy! Just cut the questions out on the borders. *TIP – If you’re going to Mod Podge the questions onto craft sticks, then be sure to cut on the inside of the border so that the slips of paper fit on the craft sticks – Head to my Date Jar post for more directions!
- Step 4: Put your pillow talk question jar together – Once your questions are cut out, you can put your pillow talk jar together! Just place the strips of paper into the jar and set it on your bedside table. You’re all prepared for endless nights of quality conversation!
Here’s what my finished DIY Pillow Talk Jar looks like… It’s so cute, and I can’t wait to go through the questions!
