I’ve always been that mom who goes all-in for Halloween. The over-the-top decorations, the full-sized candy bars, the homemade costumes (okay, sometimes they were store-bought when life got busy), and the silly games that keep everyone laughing.

So when I stumbled across the idea of creating printable Halloween trivia questions and answers, I knew it was the perfect mix of fun and just a little friendly competition. And, since I can’t keep a good thing to myself, I’m sharing them with you, completely free!

What Are Halloween Trivia Questions?

Halloween trivia questions are a set of fun, themed questions that test how much you know about all things spooky, silly, and seasonal. They can cover just about anything related to Halloween, its history, famous movies, popular witches, superstitions and spells, and even include some fun “trick or treat” cards to make things even more entertaining.

Think of them as the Halloween version of a pub quiz… but with way more pumpkins and probably a little glitter. You can play them with friends, family, coworkers, or students. And the best part is that you don’t need any special equipment, just the printable cards, a group of people, and maybe a few candy prizes to keep things competitive.

How to Play the Halloween Trivia Game

Here are a few different ways to make the most of your printable Halloween trivia questions and answers:

Option 1: Traditional Team Trivia

  • Divide your group into two or more teams.
  • A host reads a question from the card aloud.
  • Teams write down their answers.
  • Each correct answer earns 1 point.
  • The team with the most points at the end wins.

Example Scenario: At your Halloween party, split guests into two teams: the Ghosts and the Ghouls. The host reads, “What vegetable was originally used to make jack-o’-lanterns?” The Ghosts quickly scribble “Turnip,” while the Ghouls guess “Pumpkin.” The Ghosts score a point, and the spooky competition continues until one team is crowned the Halloween Trivia Champion.

Option 2: Speed Round

  • Players take turns answering questions as quickly as possible.
  • If they get it right, they stay in the game.
  • If they get it wrong, they’re out.
  • Last player standing wins.

Example Scenario: Players stand in a circle. The host asks Jake, “What’s the name of Dracula’s sidekick?” He blurts out “Renfield” in seconds; he’s safe. Next, Mia hesitates on “What candy slogan is ‘Taste the Rainbow’?” and answers wrong. She’s out. The questions keep flying until only one player survives the spooky showdown.

Option 3: Candy Prize Challenge

  • Place a bowl of candy in the center.
  • Each correct answer earns the player one piece of candy.
  • Keep going until the candy is gone (or the sugar rush gets out of hand).

Example Scenario: A big bowl of mini chocolate bars sits in the middle of the table. The host asks Lily, “What vegetable is carved into jack-o’-lanterns?” She says “Pumpkin” and grabs a candy. Next, Sam nails “Which color cat is considered bad luck?” and pockets a piece too. The game keeps going until the bowl is empty and everyone’s grinning, possibly from the sugar, possibly from victory.

I can already picture my own kids, in their mismatched costumes, running around the living room in a sugar-fueled trivia battle. And honestly, those are the moments that make Halloween magic for me.

The best part? All you have to do is print, cut, and play. No messy setup, no hours of prep. Just pure, spooky fun.
